On Friday night, I stopped by Puffy’s own Daddy’s House Studios to check in with my good friend Heavy D. while he records his new album. Needless to say, Hev is a Hip Hop legend, but also a true genuine great guy who I love to be around. His stories, humor, and guidance are priceless. If you would have told me when I was a teenager that I’d be deejaying Funkmaster Flex’s birthday, I would have called you crazy. Growing up, Flex was the epitome. I studied him on the radio. I studied him in the clubs. When I did NV on Wednesdays with him many moons ago, it was surreal. The kingpin…forever. His birthday celebration hosted by Jessica Rosenblum at Goldbar on Tuesday, August 3rd, was Hip Hop heaven as you can see by the pics. When Premo comes to say what’s up in the deejay booth, it’s always legendary.
