last week, i had the privilege of sharing a stage with my childhood idols and one of the greatest hip hop groups of all time – naughty by nature. naughty, run-dmc, a tribe called quest – these were the groups that inspired me a kid and continue to inspire me today. last time i saw naughty perform was at my birthday party at tenjune almost two years ago. i’ve been going to their concerts since 1991 when i first saw them headline the apollo theater and they have only gotten better with time. d-nice rocked with me too. in fact, we ended up battling. stay tuned for the footage.

saturday afternoon i spent the day at my favorite hat store, jj hat center. my intention was to steam a couple of hats that needed some brim shaping but, of course, i ended up doing a little shopping. while mark was steaming the brim of a bordeaux borsalino i had bought the day before, i came across an amazing long rabbit fur borsalino. Since it was a little snug, rod, an old friend who used to work at jay kos, gave it a little stretch. after making sure it fit comfortably, i forced myself to leave before adding a fourth box to the stack.
i’m no car freak but i’ve been waiting for this since “Back To The Future” came out in 1985. Terrafugio, a company from Massachusetts, has just completed the first test flight of a flying car called The Transition. The test flight had the transition up in the air for a 37 sec flight at a height of 3,000 at the Plattsburgh international Airport on March 5th. The car appears to be fashioned after racing cars from an earlier era and has wings attached to it, which remains folded during its drive on the road. In 30 seconds flat, the car can change into flight mode although it is not known yet whether this can be accomplished by the touch of a button. The car runs on unleaded gasoline in both modes and, according to Terrafugia, can hit 450 miles at the speed of over 115 miles. Although the Transition is still in the testing stage and has a few years to go before it can hit the road and air, Terrafugia has already received 40 orders for the Transition. Available at $194,000 with a refundable deposit of $10,000, the Transition would be classified as a Light Sport Aircraft which means you would require a Sport Pilot license to fly it, but could still drive it with your drivers license. amazing.
