  • Michael Jackson & Brooke Shields Grammys 1984

    02.14.11

Its just doesn’t get any hotter than Michael and Brooke at the 1984 Grammys. Brooke was Selena Gomez’s age and Mike was Drake’s age. There is something just so utterly magical about this moment.

    Prince After-Party Jam Session

    02.09.11

Prince not only sells out what seems to be a dozen Madison Square Garden’s in two months, but puts on the illest, most intimate, after-parties ever. This time around, he assembled his band at Richie Akiva and Scott Sartiano’s new supper club, The Darby (formerly famed hotspot Nell’s), for a late-night jam session. One hundred lucky people packed in tight and watched Prince remind us why he is Prince. First the Purple One took the stage with his bandmates, sitting down at the keys. Talib Kweli set off the jam with a ten minute freestyle session, followed Prince’s crew of singers. My two favorite parts of the night – Prince’s instrumental jam of “Head” tied with Prince signaling Questlove to go to the board to tweek the sound. I want to be Prince’s impromptu soundman!

Miller Lite & The Dallas Cowboys Present Forty5 With DJ Cassidy, Drake, & Naughty By Nature

    02.07.11

Every time I rock a stage with Naughty By Nature I turn into a little kid. When I when ten years old, Treach, Vinnie, and Kay Gee were my idols. I stalked them at every concert and every video shoot I could get to. I have literally known them since 1991. That being said, you can understand why I was so damn thrilled to surprise Jerry Jones’ packed House of Blues with my longtime heroes. I literally didn’t tell a soul I was bringing them out except for Drake’s deejay and great friend, DJ Future. I passed Treach and Vinnie each a mic and asked Future to lead them backstage. Kay Gee joined me in the booth and was proud to let me man the tables this time around. My first time deejaying for the guys – a dream come true. In true Naughty fashion, Treach and Vinnie tore the house down like only they could. Enjoy.

Michael Jackson Superbowl Halftime Show 1993

    02.07.11

The Black Eyed Peas made me proud last night as I watched a Hip Hop act headline the Superbowl Halftime show for the first time. Electric in energy and innovative in deign, the Peas put on a hell of a show. In the spirit of the annual spectacular, I’ve posted the incomparable Michael Jackson show from 1993. No one else can garner screams like this by standing still, not to mention the awesome “Heal The World” exhibition.

Starshell “Superluva (Cass & Dubs Remix)”

    02.01.11

Starshell is the first artist signed to Mary J. Blige’s label Matriarch and this is the remix of her first single “Superluva” I produced with my partner Dub-L. Star is bad-ass. She writes all her songs – fun, charismatic, original, sexy songs – and has a lot in store for us, musically and visually. Enjoy.

Shore Club New Year’s Eve With DJ Cassidy, Naughty By Nature, & Bell Biv Devoe

    01.18.11

Rocking with my heros is always a true thrill – a surreal thrill. I’ve been a die hard Naughty and BBD fan since I was ten years old, and from the looks of the party people at The Shore Club, so were many others. The pool was packed, the girls sweet and sexy. Naughty brought in 2011 with “Hip Hop Hooray” at midnight after an electric twenty-minute set. An hour later, BBD tore the beach down with “Do Me,” “Poison,” and an ill New Edition medley. I had haven’t enjoyed NYE like this in years. Props to Morgans Hotel Group for putting together a legendary night, and much love to Treach, Vinnie, Kay Gee, Mike, Ricky, and Ronnie for embracing their biggest fan.
